South ​Western Highway Upgrade

We have successfully completed the first stage of the South Western Highway upgrade south of Manjimup between Eastbourne Road and the Vasse Highway turn off. 

Stage two of the works is programmed to commence later this year between on the 8km section between Eastbourne Road and Manjimup. 

Latest news

All road users, including residents in Manjimup, Walpole and Pemberton, should expect short delays during the roadworks.

Please observe traffic control devices and signs, and directions of project traffic controllers to ensure both your safety and that of road construction crews.

Scope of works

  • Improved clear zone
  • Wider overall road formation of 11 m, with an increased seal width from 6.8 m to 9 m
  • Improved intersections and road geometry to reduce delays, increase overall safety by reducing driver frustration and present safer passing opportunities and turning manoeuvres
  • Reduction in the current high crash rate along the highway

Funding has been allocated for this section, which will take 16-20 weeks to complete, beginning at the end of October.
