Great Northern Highway - Roy Hill Bridge
The new Roy Hill bridge was officially opened on 15 February 2019.
Located approximately 25 to 30 km South-West of Port Hedland, we removed the existing level crossing and the 80 km/h speed restriction to improve traffic flow and safety.
Traffic impacts were minimised with access maintained along the original alignment of Great Northern Highway.
The bridge was privately funded by Roy Hill Iron Ore and replaced the existing level crossing along Great Northern Highway.
- Construction of a new bridge over the rail line
- Realignment of approximately 1.9 km of Great Northern Highway, including the installation of new culverts for drainage and tie-ins to the existing alignment
- Roy Hill Bypass relocated to the original alignment of Great Northern Highway
